 Special Spring Cleanup 2008 Print

Due to the early snow fall this past winter season; many leaves were left at the curbside.  For this reason, the Village of Ashwaubenon Public Works Department will continue the leaf pick up from fall, for a limited time this spring.

Weather permitting, the Village of Ashwaubenon, Public Works Department will begin curbside collection of loose leaves, on Monday April 7th, 2008 and end this special collection on Friday May 2nd, 2008.  This service is only being offered for this time period and this year only.

We will not be able to pick up garden waste, bagged materials or co-mingled material (co-mingled is leaves, branches and garden waste).  This collection is for Leaves Only.  Residents may bring these items to the Village of Ashwaubenon composite site located on Collaer Court, which is open daily.

The Public Works Department greatly appreciates your patience during this very long winter season.

The U.S. Postal Service determines the proper mailbox installation regulations for local mail delivery.  Unfortunately many mailboxes are not installed properly in the Village of Ashwaubenon, and can be damaged while the Department of Public Works crews are providing  such services as snow plowing, street cleaning, recycling and solid waste collection.

Residents of the Village of  Ashwaubenon are reminded that the Village will not be responsible for any damage caused to a local mailbox, which was not properly installed.

Residents are also reminded that motor route newspaper boxes mounted to the mailboxes, which obstruct the recommended clearance under a mailbox, may cause damage that will not be covered by the Village of Ashwaubenon.

Mailbox installation must be in compliance with both the Village of Ashwaubenon ordinance and the U.S. Postal requirements.  Malboxes not properly installed are at the risk of damage at the owner's expense/replacement.  If a resident chooses to have the Village replace an improperly installed mailbox the fees are: post (steel only) installed $25.00, post and box (steel and small box) installed $50.00.

 Reminder Print

Just as a reminder, our crews beging daily at 7 a.m. for refuse collection, please have your containers to the curb by 7a.m.

Thank you for your cooperation

 Dwelling Code Change Print

Effective January 1, 2008 in order to take out building permits for one and two family dwellings, the contractor must be in compliance with the Dwelling Contractor Qualifier certification.  To obtain a building permit as of January 1, 2008, you must show proof of the new Dwelling Contractor Qualifier (DCQ) certification.

Additiional information:

1.  The need for both DC and DCQ certifications arises for construction and erosion control for any one or two family dwelling regardless of age where a local building permit is required, wheter for new dwellings or for alterations and additions.

2.  The DCQ holder needs to be an employee, owner, CEO or chairman of the board for the dwelling contractor firm that is taking out the permit.

3.  The current UDC Permit Application, SBD-5823, is still usable to enter the necessary certification information.  A future printing of the form will be more specific about certification requirements.  Ensure that any municipally-created permit application forms can capture this necessary DC and DCQ information.

4.  Permit applications may be signed as applicant by the project owner or anyone that has been authorized by the owner, including an agent of the contracted builder.  The DCQ holder is not required to sign the permit application.

5.  The previous exemption for owner-occupants or intended owner-occupants will continue for the DC certification and will also apply for the new DCQ certification.  If an owner wishes to take out a permit that would otherwise require contractor certification, they have been required by state law to sign a statement that points out their potential liability.  The UDC Permit Application has built that into the backside of the last page of the form.  If you are using a municipally created form, please ensure that you include that statement for the applicant to sign.

6.  Inspectors or contractors desiring further information may visit www.commerce.wi.gov/sb for application forms, training information and lists of currently certified DC firms and DCQ individuals.
